English 11 Homework for Monday, June 15:
***Please have ALL of the Handouts I have given you this semester, and put them in your binders so I can collect them on Monday. Thank you*** Also, please bring return your Frankenstein novel.
1. Poetry: Read your poem, do the multiple choice and do a S.I.F.T. of the poem. Also, read the question for the paragraph. You will be teaching the poem next week.

1. Poem Synthesis Paragraph: a)Read the two poems b)do the multiple choice for each c)then write the synthesis paragraph, discussing the common theme of the two poems.
The paragraph should be minimum, two-thirds of a page, to maximum, one page, double spaced, 12 point font, Times New Roman.
2) Read your Synthesis texts in your Provincial Exam and do the multiple choice. Monday you will begin the essay.

English 10 Homework for Friday, June 12:
1. Complete your section of "Examinable Terms and Devices in Literature." Use 12 point font, Times New Roman. Also, between the Term and the definition, and the 2 examples use 1.5 spacing. (The example below is not 1.5 because this blog won't do it, but you are to use it.)
Example:
Mood:
is the feeling or atmosphere that the writer creates.
-Example: the mood of the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, is sometimes comic, but also ominous, and ultimately, heart-breaking.
-Example: the mood at the end of the short story, "The Loons," is tragic, as Piquette and her children die, and the loons are forced to find another home because of development.

English 11 Homework for, Thursday/Friday: June 11/12
1. Work on your outline/ideas for the in-class essay, synthesizing "Ode to the West Wind" and Frankenstein (Block A) and "Ode on Melancholy" and Frankenstein (Block C). We will start this essay Thursday. Please use the same outline format as last time (the one will all the 6's)

B Block: You are reading and doing the multiple choice for "The Visitor" and "The Raven's Gift." Please bring everything all of this with you tomorrow.
1. Prompt: People's lives can be enriched through their connection with nature.
Please be working on this essay prompt over the few days, and bring it on Thursday. Like the others, the personal essay should be 4 to 5 paragraphs, including an Introduction with a thesis, Body Paragraphs concrete examples an discussion, and a Conclusion that wraps it up in an important way.

English 11 Homework for Thursday, June 4:
1. A and C: Be working on your thesis, ideas and examples for your Synthesis essay. You should have an Acceptable Outline for tomorrow, that includes the following:
Introduction: 4 bullets of 4 words each, and the Thesis fully written out.
TS #1, 2, (and possibly 3): Topic sentences can be fully written out.
Body Paragraphs: 6 bullets and 6 words each
Conclusion: Thesis reworded in a full sentence, and 4 bullets of 4 words each.
"Direct References": have a list of the "quotes" you will use. These are not integrated until you write them in class.
You may also have your NOVEL, POEM, and SIFT.

1. D Block: Do the reading and multiple choice for the poem "Where I Come From," and "The Visitor." Please do this on your own paper.
Tomorrow you will finish your personal essay in the first 20 minutes of the block, then work on the synthesis essay.
2. B Block: Reread the texts and the multiple choice for "What is the SCA?" and "The Street That Got Mislaid."
