Ms. Tyre's English 12 Homework for Frankenstein for Wed. May 8th:

Finalize your Literature Circle Roles for Wednesday and Thursday Lit Circles.  
  • If you are showing Romantic Art, bring your laptop.
  • if you are the Poet, bring copies for the poems for your group.
  • We will do Dicussions Director and Poetry tomorrow and Theme Enricher and Romantic Art on Thursday. 
  • Make sure you all bring your notes on the Romantic Age values and concerns, and Gothic Elements.  You will need these for interpretation.

1. Read and do the assigned work on the following poems in Poetry and Language:
  • p. 37  "The Flame": do Questions and Activity
  • p. 39  Kaneko Tota's haiku: do Question and Activities

  • p. 43 "The Humped Ox": Activity 2 
  • p. 44  "The Old Repair Man":Questions    and define the words "concrete" and "abstract"
  • p. 45 "Fourteenth birthday": Activities 1, 2
  • p.47 "The Bird": Questions and Activities

Ms. Tyre's English 9 Homework for Tuesday, May7:

1. Read the poem "Sweet Like a Crow" on page 26 of your poetry text.  This is a poem that uses vivid similes (where two things that seem very different are compared in an imaginative way). Read it two or three times.
2. Create a poem using a simile, or similes,  to compare sounds.

1. Add notes to "Ongoing Work": Themes, Epigraph/Prometheus, and Gothic Elements 

2. Read and do Questions for Chapters 4 and 5 (and 6 if you can)


Ms.Tyre's English 12 Homework for Thursday, May 2

1. Set up pages for ongoing note-taking for the following areas:
  •  Keep ongoing notes on the connections between Victor/Creature and the Myth of Prometheus
  • Keep ongoing notes on the Gothic Elements in the story
  • Keep ongoing notes on the several themes emerging in the story.
2. For Thursday, have Chapters 1 and 2 read, and the questions completed.
