English 11 Homework for Friday, Dec. 5:
1. F451: Work on your essay revisions tonight, particularly Introduction, Thesis Statement, and your ideas. You will write tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday to finish this essay. If you have field trips etc. you need to come at 7:30 am, lunch time and after school to make up some of the time you lose.
The Thesis Statement answers the question: "Why and how does Montag grow as a moral character, and what does he achieve by his metamorphosis?"
Your thesis is your direct answer to the question. Make sure you have answered it.
The rest of the essay develops the answer by gathering strong evidence, and organizing that evidence to persuade the reader of the truth of it.
The topic sentence of your body paragraphs introduces the main idea/topic and the controlling idea. It must be clear and focused. The controlling idea is the writer's attitude or idea about the topic. It focuses or controls the information in the rest of the paragraph.
The concluding sentence of your body paragraphs comments on the main idea by repeating a key word or phrase from the topic sentence or by rephrasing the topic sentence.

B) D Block Food Drive: Please donate as much as you can- cans of soup, vegetables, meat, baby food or boxed food. Let's fill it up for Thursday!
1. Feed Essay: You are working on the essay daily. This requires research, deciding your examples, and organizing your ideas, to ensure you are ready to write the essay next week.
You must also keep a research log, showing your daily searches, notes, websites that you use, etc. This can be a word-document or hand-written, but both must be organized and legible. My ability to understand it, the headings, the notes, will require excellent formating. Bring it with you daily, either on paper or on computer. Ultimately, it will be printed and handed in.
You will also do a Bibliography. I will give you the exemplars for the format, and will go over it on Thursday.
ALERT! Watch "The Corporation: The Pathological Pursuit of Profit and Power" on youtube!
Instructions: go to youtube.com and click on it; then in the search screen type in the yellow title above, and the first entry is the one to watch. It is a couple of hours long, but you could do it over a few days. It's great!!
You have this week to get your content and organization together. This is an individual assignment, so you are working, alone, not in groups or in discussions. Use your time well, and review your weaknesses and try to improve upon them.
You have until Friday to get the majority of your planning done and then you must create an outline: this you will use next week when you write it in class. You will hand in your Research Document before you write on Monday, and I will approve your Outline.
