Ms. Tyre's English 9 Homework for Thursday, June 12:

1. Romeo and Juliet

A) Act 1-5 Questions completed for handing in. They do not need to be word-processed, but they should be neat, organized by number, with the Act and scene at the head of each section.

B) Literary Devices Document: This document covers Act 1 - 5.  It will be word-processed, organized by Act and scene, and each literary device bolded or highlighted and explained.

C) Fate or Free Will Paragraph: This is a proper paragraph that answers the following question: Do you agree with Friar Laurence that "a greater power then we [can thwart] our intents" (5, 3, 153-4)? This is not a first person response, but a thoughtful analysis of the play. The questions requires you to determine whether the tragedy was inevitable - an act of a greater power or Fate -  or created by human forces, decisions, and intentions.  Use a proper paragraph structure, double-spaced, 12 pt. font, standard margins, Times New Roman, and no longer than one page, nor no less than two-thirds of a page. Do not use colloquial expressions. This is a separate assignment and it is handed in to me on its own.
