English 12 Homework for Tuesday, Mar. 7:
1. Research: go online to understand the idea of the "Anthropocene". Go to several sites, take a lot of notes, and understand the concept of it, and the controversy of it. Have details, particularly, some of the people who are promoting the idea, why they are, and what benefits to mankind it may have.

English 10 Homework for Monday, March 6:
1. Read the poem "To Have Succeeded." Read it as many times as you need to, in order to understand it.
2. Define words you don't know. Add them to your Glossary in your Binder and learn them.
3. Do the multiple choice on separate paper. Look up terms in the MC that you don't know.
4. In 3 to 4 sentences, express the common theme of these two poems. Word Process, 12 pt. font, TNR.
5. Write a developed paragraph, 2/3rds to three quarters of a page, writing about something that you have done to help somebody. Write your best! Word-process it for Monday's class.
English 12 Homework for Monday, March 6:
1. Read "Progress" by Alan Lightman, as many times as you need to.
a) Look up words that you don't know. Put them in your Glossary... and learn to use them.
b) Write a developed paragraph explaining the what the word "Progress" means to you. Include examples in your work. 1.5 pages, 1.5 spacing.
c )Look up the story lines of the "The Island of Dr. Moreau," "Frankenstein," "Waldon," and "White Noise," that are referred to in the article. Know the plots and characters- and identify the common theme in them.
d )Prepare a brief rebuttal to one of the arguments Lightman offers in support of his thesis. **Use a concrete fact or personal experience to make your rebuttal more convincing.

English 12 Homework for Friday, 3rd:
1. Man and His Environment: Looking back on what we have talked about, what we have read, and what we have viewed, start to blend the ideas together in a thematic way.
"Manufactured Landscapes" shows Nature and Man at odds with each other. Man's technology and its problems, have continued to transform Nature. We have many examples in this documentary.
Edward O. Wilson has also warned us of the "harm" we are doing to our planet in "the generations to come."
We have looked at the decline of species, and what is, or is not, being done about it.
Tonight create bullets of synthesis of all that we have done in this unit so far, showing how Earth is being damaged by our attitudes, our ignorance, and other reasons.
Develop your work/ideas with examples, and bring them tomorrow.
English 10 Homework for Friday, March 3:
1. Read the poem "Gracious Goodness" by Marge Piercy several times, so you understand it. In your own words answer the following questions:
a. Look up words you do not know. Word: definition. There will be a quiz.
b. In your own words, write a developed paragraph explaining what the poem about. This should be approximately 5-8 sentences, well written.
c. In a few good sentences - identify and discuss the theme of the poem? Look up "theme" if you need to, in order to do this well.

1. Research: Oil consumption in North America and in the world. A) Has oil consumption changed in the last 20 years? B) How much? Give some details.
2. What new forms of energy are being used in the energy sector? How much of these are being used? How will these new energy sources change the world - or not?
3. What do Trudeau and Trump want to do about energy consumption?
4. What themes about nature are being developed in "Manufactured Landscapes"? Write a thoughtful, developed paragraph.
