English 11 Homework for Wed. May 20:
1. Frankenstein:
a) All your Chapter Questions should be completed.
b) All your Theme Work should be completed very soon. You should be working in the single Theme Groups that you have chosen to share in your Literature Circles next week. Try to get finished this work Wednesday and Thursday.
When you are presenting and discussing your Theme Work in your Literature Circles next week, do not just deliver your quotes and explanations, but also make connections to our world, in all those Theme areas.
c) Next, you need to be working in your Expert Groups to create your Literature Circle Roles - starting this week and into the weekend. You will begin your Literature Circle Groups next Tuesday.
Your Literature Circle Roles should be focused on the important aspects of the story and what it teaches us about human nature, Nature itself, about the themes you have been working on, as well as how the story is still relevant 200 years later. Do some research to find what the Victor's of the world are working on, and what scientists are "playing with." The novel could be seen as a warning.....
But it is also about the role of a parent. Victor did not help his creature. Could he have educated his countrymen to accept him? The creature was hideous, but benevolent at the beginning. Could Victor have tried to introduce this creature, an educated though ugly fellow, to a world who was prepared to judge him on his positive traits. Victor didn't even try.
I will take in your Chapter Questions tomorrow.
