English 10 Homework for Thursday, Dec. 10:

1. B and C Blocks: Do a S.I.F.T. of the poem "Oxymandias" this evening. 1. Read the poem many times to get the flow of the poem and the meaning. 2. Look up words that you don't know. 3. Use your Handout "Poetic Devices and Figurative Language" to help you.  4. What is the "mood" of the poem? Look up mood words. 5. Using your Handout in 3, decide what type of poem it is. 6. Theme: what truth or insight about life does it show us? 

In other words: Do a S.I.F.T. to the best of your ability.
