English 12 Homework for Monday, May 9:

1. Please bring the article "Rotten Ice" back to class if you haven't: 6 have not come in.

2. What is the "objective" point of view.  Have three examples of it. 

3. "Personal Helicon" by Seamus Heaney. Always read a poem as many times as you need to and read the vocabulary notes at the bottom of the page, as they will help you understand the poem better.

Please do the multiple choice, and then do the paragraph question: "In paragraph form, and with specific reference to the poem, discuss the importance of the wells to the speaker." Be sure to integrate references into your paragraph.

4. Please develop ideas on the following questions: 

a) What is a "tempest?" Define the term. 

b) Find three or four examples of "tempests" and bring them to class. 

c) Be prepared to discuss the effects of tempests. 

d) What is the root word: where does it come from, and how is "time" a part of its meaning?
