English 11 Homework for Tues. Oct. 14:

1. Friday's Class: Read the short story, "The Smile" carefully a couple of times, then write a short essay, one and a half pages, Times New Roman, 12 point font, discussing the values these characters possess. Include the leaders, the general population (the mob), and Tom. 

Use both direct references in the form of integrated quotes, and indirect references from the story. Cite your references at the end of your sentences, using the paragraph number only.  Example: (17).  

*This essay is due Wednesday, Oct. 15 for editing. 

*Your "Jurassic Conservation" precis is due Tuesday. Oct. 14, with your original stapled underneath.
