1. Read the Introduction to Act 1, Scene 1 on page 11.  This will help you understand the scene a little better.

2. Read Act 1, Scene 1 to the end of line 101 only: Read it through 2 or 3 times, carefully before you do anything else. ALWAYS look left for the notes that can help you understand. Then do the following questions: Write in full sentences and write as much as you need to make your ideas clear.

A) Where is the scene set? 

B) Who are the characters in this scene? Identify those who are Capulet supporters and those who are Montague supporters. 

C)What is the attitude of all of these young men? 

D) Which fellow does not have an bad attitude? What does he do? 

E) What other people arrive at the scene of the brawl? 

F) What is the outcome of the brawl? Be thorough.
