1. Inside Poetry: Read the poems and explanations of poetic devices on pp. 60-68.

**Have your handout "Poetic Devices and Figurative Language" beside you and use it to help reinforce what you are reading/learning.

How to Read a Poem: Read each poem, several times, and the explanations. Reading poetry requires quiet and concentration. You need to read a poem several times to get the effect the poet wants you to.  Take notes on the poetic devices you are learning and add examples from the poems.

Also read pp. 80/81 and write out on a separate page, large, bold and organized, the seven types of images.  Title the page.
