Ms. Tyre's English 9 Homework for Monday, June 17:

1. Prepare for the in-class assignment on the Plot Structure of Romeo and Juliet. You need to know the elements of the structure and to know what events in the play to include in each of those elements.

2. Please bring your Romeo and Juliet script with you.

Ms. Tyre's Homework (2) for English 9 for Tomorrow:

1. You should have all your Act 1-5 questions finished for tomorrow. You will hand all these in to me tomorrow, not just Act 5.
2. Please put all the  handouts that I have given you in your binder, also, and tidy it up.

Ms. Tyre's English 9 Homework for Friday, June 14:

1. Finish all Headlines and hand them in tomorrow.
2. Finish your Act V questions to the end.  Please use your script and glossary, and Shakespeare Navigator to do a good job.  You will often need to have more than one sentence answers to do these well. These are due tomorrow.
  • Your written expression, neatness, and ideas all count towards your mark.

Ms. Tyre's English 12 Homework to Friday, 14th:

1. You should be working on your Frankenstein Essay that you will write on Friday, starting at 7:30am .
  • You should be creating an outline or doing a full 1st draft to see how well your ideas and examples work.  I highly advise this.
  • At the very least you should be writing a good outline.  This is mandatory and will be handed in with your essay on Friday.
  • Remember, I expect a well-developed essay of more than 3 Body Paragraphs
 Your Acceptable Outline will be comprised of the following:
  1. Introductory Paragraph : 6 bullets of 6 words + Full Thesis written out.
  2. Each Body Paragraph: up to 10 bullets of 10 words each + Topic Sentences fully written out but not the Concluding Sentences.  Please write you Concluding Sentences of your Body Paragraphs as you come to them.  Make sure they ARE Concluding Sentences and not content that should be apart of the content.
  3.  Concluding Paragraph: 6 bullets of 6 words + Thesis Reworded fully written out and at the beginning of the paragraph.  Remember, you are to universalize your Theme in the Conclusion. You are not summarizing but applying the main idea to the world/the reader.  Why is what you have written important to all of us.  
  4. You may have the "direct references" typed out  on you Outline, also.
  5. No "first" person "I" or "me" or the awkward "you" or "your".  
  6. Us, We or Our is fine in the Conclusion only.
  7. Make sure you integrate direct references from the text in the proper way.

1. Keep up with Headlines to end of Act V, scene 2.
2. Complete questions to end of Act V, scene 2.

The Romeo and Juliet Quiz tomorrow will require you to know the order of events in the Act and to identify who spoke certain lines.

1. You are preparing for your in-class final essay on Frankenstein
  • Monday: Thesis statement due 
  • Tuesday: Revised Thesis statement
  • Wednesday and Thursday: working on an outline
  • Friday: Essay written in class with an approved outline - from 7:30am to 8:20, lunchtime to 3:15.

1. Update your Headlines to the end of Act 3.
2. Finish all the Questions for Act 3.
3. Reflection Log:  Imagine yourself as Juliet and consider what you need to manage this dreadful situation you are in.  What emotional resources do you need, now that you have been cast away from any support from your family.  Consider the options you have and what you should do.

2. Keep up with Headlines.
3. Be working on the Revisions due on Friday: 
  • Revision of "Plague" Paragraph.  Underline all changes on you Revision and staple the Original underneath.
  • Revision of "Juliet's Soliloquy" paragraph.  Improve your writing, underline changes, staple the original underneath.

1. Rewrite Juliet's soliloquy in Act 3, scene 1 in your own words, being careful to reword all her thoughts and desires in modern, but formal English expression.  This will be a paragraph instead of the poetic form of Shakespeare's

2. Also, do the three questions at the bottom of the sheet.
