1. Revisions of 3 Stories Essay: Sentence by Sentence. Due Thursday, April 7.

2. Tomorrow bring your novel Theories of Relativity and your Literature Circle Handout. Start thinking about your ideas for your Role. Tomorrow you will be in Expert Groups.


English 11 Homework for Friday, April 1:

1. "Totem": you should have your Presentation fully developed by the end of Friday's class. You will present on Monday.

2. Three Text Revision: is due on Wednesday next week. This is a Sentence-by-Sentence revision.

English 12 Homework for Thursday and Friday:

1. Be working on your "Progress" assignment. Be thorough in your work, as you will need to know your "stuff" when it comes time to use the material. We will look at how the work is going on Friday. 

2. 3 Text Revision:  Some of you need to be working on this, also. These need to come in soon.


English 11 Homework for Thursday, March 31:

1. "Totem": You are working on this short story, using the Elements of Literature Chart to build a oral presentation on Wednesday next week. When you present to the class, you should have your Outline of the presentation on the board. Your presentation should include a variety of elements, such as questions/answers, group talk etc.

1. English 9: Three Stories Essay Revision due on Wednesday, April 6th. This is a full revision, where you underline all your changes. Please word-process your work, and word-process it.

Staple your original underneath the Revision. No Lates.

English 9 Homework for Wednesday:

1. Introductory Paragraph: Rewrite your Introductory Paragraph using what you learned in today's class, improving the ideas, and the written expression. Use your Marking Symbol Handout to help you.

2. Start the same process for your first Body Paragraph. Write a Topic Sentence that makes sense for the content of the Paragraph, and start writing the paragraph.  I will give you a couple of days to complete a revision of the whole essay. 


English 11 Homework for Wednesday, March 30:

1. Satire: look up a good definition of satire that gives you a examples, also.

2. Read "Totem" by Thomas King tonight two times. Read it more than once.

3. Look up words and references that you don't know. Write them down in your notes. 

English 12 Homework for Thursday, Mar. 31:

1. "Progress" by Alan Lightman: a) Read the article, b) do vocabulary that you need to understand c) Identify and explain his references d) Do your Personal Response.

English 12 Homework due March 29:

1. Follow the instructions for the Dialectical Journal. a)First- do the Vocabulary-Terms on the "Satirical Journal" Handout: Moral and Cultural Decay, Alienation, Drug Dependency, Excessive Consumption and Production, Totalitarian Governments and Brainwashing. Then follow the instructions I have given you on the Handouts.

2. The completed Dialectical Journal is due on the day we get back from March Break. Follow the instructions I gave you.  Ask questions tomorrow, Thursday, for any clarification you need. 

The Californians" may have 2 extra days.

English 9 Homework for March 29:

1. Novel Study: Theories of Relativity: start with the Research Questions. Then read the novel carefully, and as you go use sticky notes to write ideas down for your Dialectical Journal entries. Please read your Handout carefully, and put all your work in a Duotang (buy one). I do not want them in a binder. I would also prefer that you word-process your work so it is neat and easy to read. Organize your work nicely.



English 11 Homework for March 29:

1. You are working on your Dialectical Journals: 2 entries per chapter. Each entry should be a minimum of 60 words, but I am expecting more in many of your entries.  Please purchase a Duotang or Notebook for your Journals Entries.

English 9 Homework for Monday, March 7th:

1. Three Stories Essay: This weekend be working on the Introductory Paragraph for the Three Stories Essay.  You must introduce the three stories and their authors, briefly. Then create your Thesis Statement, which is the main point of the three stories and what they show us about mankind.

Please use a word processor to do your work, as you can change things easily and frequently.


English 11 Homework for Monday, March 7:

1. "The Destructors" theme paragraphs are due on Monday. Word process them. Do not print it out until you have made it the best you can.

2. Work on your ideas and Outline for the Synthesis Essay. The question is: What do these two stories show us about human nature and what we need to live?  Your answer is your Thesis Statement. 

3. Monday we will prepare for the March Break Dialectical Journal Assignment.

4. Tues.-Thurs. you will write the Synthesis Essay.

English 11 Homework for Thurs/Fri., Mar. 4:

Thursday and Friday: Please revise your Theme Statement for "The Destructors." You are also working in groups to develop your ideas/points and structure for the synthesis essay of "The Destructors" and "The Smile." 

A Block work due: 1.Tristan:Toth/Ped Essay and Revisions. 2. Samuel: Essay Revisions  3. Mitch: Essay Revisions. 4. Drake: Morals Essay Revisions and Toth/Ped Revisions.  5. William: Toth/Ped Revisions.

1. All questions for "The Destructors" and "The Smile" are to be completed and well-developed. Please email your work if you are not going to be in class.

Thursday and Friday, you will be in working groups to create bullets for the synthesis of "The Smile" and "The Destructors," using all the elements of literature. Use your Handouts!!

English 12 Homework for Thurs/Fri and the Weekend due Monday:

1. Do the Provincial poem "Working in the Rain." Read it several times and do the multiple choice on separate paper. Do not mark up the Exam.

2. Provincial Prompt: Essay due Monday, March the 7th: Please read the prompt at the back of the Provincial Exam and start thinking about the personal essay you will write. *Start developing your ideas in bullet form. Bring it with you tomorrow, so you can work on it if you finish your essay. 

This is a "first person" essay of five paragraphs, where you will develop the prompt by reflecting on yourself. Use concrete examples from your life experience - and looking toward the future. This is a personal essay of 5 paragraphs where you write about your real life in an interesting way, including rich examples. 

Your concluding paragraph should not repeat anything you have already said, but look toward the future. 

English 9 Homework for Wed/Thurs/Friday: 

1. Work that needs to be handed in:1. Zachary: 2026 Revision.   2. Quinn: 2026 Revision.  

2. Work that you should have completed :         "The Curio Shop" questions 1 and 2 well-developed with examples.

3. Your vocabulary should be up to date in your Glossary.  There will be a test soon.

4. Your three story chart for all three stories should be completed by Monday at the latest. 

5. You may start your Essay tomorrow on lined paper if you have an organized Outline for each of the body paragraphs (3). You should know what stories and the ideas and examples you are going to write in each paragraph. You need to build that outline before you start writing.

You must start with an Introductory Paragraph that introduces the stories, and have a Thesis Statement that is the main point of the essay. I will approve this Introduction before you start your body paragraphs.

English 11 Homework for Wednesday: Mar. 2

1. The Destructors: you are working on the two sets of questions as I have given you.  Develop your answers and integrate quotes, well, into your paragraphs.

These are all due on Thursday morning.
