English 10 Homework for Friday-Mon. Nov.9:

1. Animal Farm: Your Literature Circle Roles are due Monday, when you will be in your Lit-Circle groups.  You are focusing on the last part of the novel, BUT you are also looking at the whole novel and the Big Ideas that Orwell wants us to understand about how societies flourish or fail.

English 9 Homework for Thurs/Fri: Nov. 5-6:

1. The House of the Scorpion: You are working in your Expert Groups to create your Literature Circle Roles.  You will be in your Lit-Circle groups on Monday to begin. Make sure to word-process your role for Monday, AND HAVE TWO COPIES: ONE FOR YOU and ONE FOR ME.

English 10 Homework for Thursday, Nov. 5:

1. Animal Farm: You should be working on your LC roles Wed. and Thurs. These roles should cover the last chapters of the novel, but also the whole novel and its ideas.

You are not to use Sparks Notes and the Russian Revolution. The novel is about much more than one historical event - it is about how societies govern and why they succeed or don't. And at the heart of it all is human nature!

You can certainly look at contemporary examples in the world, but you must use them carefully and synthesize with the novel.

Have a look at the news on Trudeau's swearing in as the new Prime Minister of Canada.
