Ms. Tyre's English 10 Homework for the Winter Break: Due Monday, Jan. 6.

I am here in class tomorrow to look at your Thesis Statements or help in other ways. I expect you to come to class after activities in the Gym.

1. TKMB Outline: You should be working on this essay outline over the Winter Break.

Your Thesis Statement should define what your theme is and what we learn by it.  Think about the following to help you write your Thesis: How does the novel define and show the following:

1. What is real courage according to this story?  What isn't? What can real courage teach us?

2. According the to story, what is real education? And what do we learn from it that we can't in a classroom?

3. Growing up is a lot of different things and processes. What/Who forms us? What is it to grow up? What are the benefits, for individuals and society?

4. What is the impact of prejudice on individuals and society? How does it hurt everyone, including those with the attitude.

You are to use your Acceptable Handout Outline to create your outline and you are to include a full sentence Concluding Sentence at the end of each of your Body Paragraphs.

Each Topic Sentence of your Body Paragraphs must have a quote (direct reference) integrated into the Topic Sentence that will be the director of your paragraph discussion.  Therefore, each quote must help you develop the Thesis-Theme.

You are to write a proper Concluding Paragraph with a Thesis Reworded and an interesting look at how your theme might be important to us in our time or the future.
